QuickBooks Error – The File You Specified Cannot Be Opened

    2. Turning ON the UAC: Slider to be moved, in order to choose when you are willing to get notified, after that click OK. If you are asked to provide confirmation or to enter the administrator password, do the same.

For Windows XP

  • Close all the applications along with the QuickBooks
  • Try restrting your computer
  • Then open the QuickBooks and try opening the program once again

2. Method Two: Open the QuickBooks with the permission of elevated Administrator

  • Close the QuickBooks
  • Then right-click on the icon of QuickBooks
  • Users of Windows XP will notice the option of Run as, so select the Run as administrator
  • If prompted, add login credentials for Windows Administrator
  • You will see that no error appears as the file of QuickBooks gets opened. Any new update will be installed without prompting
  • Close the QuickBooks
  • Now open the QuickBooks normally and you will see that no error appears anymore
